Indonesia and Estonia Explore Cybersecurity Cooperation
Jakarta, March 27, 2025 - Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi Sugiono met with Priit Turk, the Ambassador of Estonia to Indonesia, Singapore, and ASEAN, to discuss potential collaborations in cybersecurity and enhance bilateral relations. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Thursday.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
During the courtesy call, Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships between Indonesia and Estonia, especially within the dairy products sector. She expressed the need to explore new opportunities to strengthen business-to-business and people-to-people connections between the two countries. “We need to explore various new opportunities to promote more intensive business-to-business and people-to-people relationships,” she stated.
Trade and Investment Growth
In 2024, trade between Indonesia and Estonia reached a substantial USD 540 million, marking a significant increase of 47.95 percent from the previous year. Additionally, Estonia’s investments in Indonesia totaled USD 5.8 million during the same period. Minister Sugiono highlighted the potential for enhanced collaboration in the investment sector going forward.
Focus on Digital Collaboration
The minister also expressed a keen interest in advancing digital cooperation with Estonia, particularly in cybersecurity. This sector is increasingly vital in today’s digital landscape, and both nations are looking to strengthen their capabilities in this area.

Beyond bilateral topics, the conversation also touched on geopolitical matters, including the dynamics in the Middle East concerning Palestine and the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine.
